Our Area
We
are located in one of the most beautiful areas of New York State - perhaps
one of the most esthetically pleasing areas of the entire country. Lakes,
farms, colorful woodlands, quaint villages all add to the visual
experience that makes us so unique.
Of course there's more to this area than
just its natural beauty. There's also its rich historical legacy, from
pre-revolutionary times through the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Dairy
farms owned for generations of the same families, villages little changed
in decades, the Farmers Museum celebrating rural life from a century or
more ago, old-fashioned values practiced by local residents - all of these
combine to create a historical presence felt daily by all who are
fortunate enough to live here.
But history isn't all that makes this
area a great place to live. Quality schools with safe environments and
small classes, extraordinary health care facilities, wonderful exercise
and fitness opportunities, rich cultural institutions such as the
Glimmerglass Opera providing world-class productions, shopping in modern
chain stores and quaint
shops, recreation and entertainment for the full-time resident and
seasonal visitor, all add to the quality of life that so many find
rewarding and satisfying.
The neighboring village of Cooperstown
is the legendary home of the birth of baseball and houses the National
Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Along with Cooperstown Dreams Park and
other baseball oriented attractions, this area is a magnet for baseball
and sports fans from around the world. With the National Soccer Hall of
Fame in nearby Oneonta, sports enthusiasm is another aspect that makes it
just plain hard to beat this area for living, vacationing, or enjoying
life. |
